Wide awake in Seattle
The Dalai Lama is in town. (Un)fortunately, I am not here to see Tibet’s spiritual leader, but to spend two days hearing the world’s best health metrics experts talk about why we have failed to deliver better health measurement to the world.
Some quotes of the day:
- “Accountants have more personality than epidemiologists” (Prabhat Jar)
- “The Heisenberg of health metrics” (Alan Lopez)
- “Information has the potential to be as important as vaccination” (Bill Gates Senior)
- “The measurement community is confident but fragile. What can we do to make it stronger?”
- “We may have only one chance in a generation to make health information a priority. What is the solution?”
Richard Horton
